Description

Apple crostini is a simple yet elegant appetizer featuring crisp toasted baguette slices topped with creamy cheese, fresh apple slices, and a drizzle of honey or balsamic glaze. The perfect balance of sweet, savory, and crunchy makes it a beautiful and delicious choice for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 French baguette, sliced into ½-inch rounds

2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)

2 apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji), thinly sliced

8 oz cream cheese, goat cheese, or brie

2 tbsp honey or balsamic glaze (for drizzling)

¼ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional, for garnish)

1 tbsp lemon juice (to prevent browning)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
  3. Bake for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  4. Meanwhile, slice the apples thinly and toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  5. Spread a generous layer of cheese on each toasted baguette slice—cream cheese for smoothness, goat cheese for tang, or brie for richness.
  6. Top each crostini with a few apple slices, then drizzle with honey or balsamic glaze.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and garnish with thyme or rosemary if desired.
  8. Serve immediately while crisp, or at room temperature.

Notes

Use blue cheese with balsamic glaze for a bold, savory variation.

Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over apples before drizzling with honey for a fall-inspired touch.

Swap apples for pears and honey for maple syrup for a brunch version.

Lightly toast nuts before topping for added crunch and aroma.

Assemble just before serving to keep the crostini crisp.
