Description

This Baked Fried Chicken combines crispy, golden-brown breading with juicy, tender chicken, all without the mess of deep frying. Marinated in buttermilk and seasoned with a blend of spices, it’s a healthier and easy-to-make alternative to traditional fried chicken, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground paprika
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose seasoning (such as Lawry’s)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup fresh flat-leaf parsley (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken:
Cut the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to create 4 even portions. Place the chicken in a large bowl and marinate in the buttermilk for about 20 minutes.

  • Make the Breading:
In a medium-sized bowl, mix the flour, paprika, all-purpose seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Melt the butter and spread it on the bottom of a baking sheet.

  • Bread the Chicken:
Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s well coated.

  • Bake the Chicken:
Arrange the breaded chicken on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  • Garnish and Serve:
Optionally, garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Chicken Type: You can use bone-in thighs or drumsticks for a different texture, but adjust the baking time accordingly.
  • Spices: Customize the seasoning by adding garlic powder, onion powder, or cayenne pepper for extra flavor.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Substitute with gluten-free breadcrumbs or a gluten-free flour alternative.
