Description
A hearty beef and cheddar sandwich made with tender seasoned beef, melted sharp cheddar, and buttery toasted bread. This quick and satisfying sandwich is perfect for lunch or a comforting dinner.
Ingredients
1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
4 slices cheddar cheese (preferably sharp)
4 slices bread (such as sourdough or whole wheat)
2 tablespoons butter (for grilling)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Add the thinly sliced beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until the beef is browned and fully cooked.
- Remove the cooked beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the same skillet and place two slices of bread in the pan.
- Evenly distribute the cooked beef over the bread slices and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the beef.
- Top each sandwich with another slice of bread.
- Grill the sandwiches for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot.
Notes
Add sautéed onions or mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
Sliced jalapeños or hot sauce can be added for a spicy variation.
Provolone, Swiss, mozzarella, or pepper jack can be used instead of cheddar.
Spread mustard or horseradish sauce on the bread for a tangy flavor boost.
Leftover roast beef works well as a quick substitute for freshly cooked beef.
Store cooked beef in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat the beef in a skillet before assembling a fresh sandwich for the best texture.
