Description

A hearty beef and cheddar sandwich made with tender seasoned beef, melted sharp cheddar, and buttery toasted bread. This quick and satisfying sandwich is perfect for lunch or a comforting dinner.

Ingredients

1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced

4 slices cheddar cheese (preferably sharp)

4 slices bread (such as sourdough or whole wheat)

2 tablespoons butter (for grilling)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until the beef is browned and fully cooked.
  3. Remove the cooked beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the same skillet and place two slices of bread in the pan.
  5. Evenly distribute the cooked beef over the bread slices and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the beef.
  6. Top each sandwich with another slice of bread.
  7. Grill the sandwiches for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot.

Notes

Add sautéed onions or mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.

Sliced jalapeños or hot sauce can be added for a spicy variation.

Provolone, Swiss, mozzarella, or pepper jack can be used instead of cheddar.

Spread mustard or horseradish sauce on the bread for a tangy flavor boost.

Leftover roast beef works well as a quick substitute for freshly cooked beef.

Store cooked beef in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat the beef in a skillet before assembling a fresh sandwich for the best texture.
