Ingredients
For the Roasted Garlic:
- 8–10 garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Pinch of salt
For the Garlic Butter Custard:
- Roasted garlic (from above)
- ½ cup melted butter (113g)
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup milk (60g)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
For Assembly:
- 1 loaf of bread (French baguette or Hawaiian sweet rolls)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions

Roast the Garlic:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place peeled garlic cloves on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.
- Cover with foil and roast for 20 minutes, until golden and soft.

Prepare the Bread:
- Slice the loaf in half lengthwise.
- Place halves on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes until lightly crispy.

Make the Garlic Butter Custard:
- Mash the roasted garlic into a paste.
- In a bowl, whisk together the mashed garlic, melted butter, egg, milk, salt, paprika, and chopped parsley.

Dip the Bread:
- Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
- Dip each bread half into the garlic butter custard for even coverage.
- Place the dipped bread back on the baking sheet.

Second Bake:
- Bake the dipped bread for 10-12 minutes until the custard sets and turns golden.

Add Cheese & Final Bake:
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the bread halves.
- Switch oven to broil and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
