Description

Billion Dollar Buttery Biscuits are soft, flaky, and irresistibly buttery, perfect for breakfast or as a side dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • ¾ cup cold buttermilk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir with a fork until just combined—the dough will be sticky.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times until it comes together.
  6. Pat or gently roll the dough to about ½ inch thickness.
  7. Use a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out biscuits.
  8. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet; place touching each other for soft sides or spaced apart for crispy sides.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from oven and immediately brush tops with melted butter for an extra buttery finish.
