Ingredients

1 cup pecan halves

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar, cinnamon, salt, and water, stirring until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

  • Add the pecans to the saucepan and stir until they are evenly coated with the sugar mixture.

  • Spread the pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the pecans are golden brown and fragrant.

  • Remove from the oven and immediately stir in the vanilla extract.

  • Allow the candied pecans to cool completely on the baking sheet before transferring them to an airtight container.

Notes

Variations:

Spicy Candied Pecans: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder for a sweet and spicy twist.

Maple Candied Pecans: Substitute maple syrup for granulated sugar for a rich, complex sweetness.

Chocolate-Dipped Candied Pecans: After cooling, dip the pecans halfway in melted chocolate for an extra indulgent treat.

Nut-Free Option: Use almonds, walnuts, or cashews for a different flavor.

Storage/Reheating: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. For longer storage, refrigerate them. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 5 minutes to regain crispiness.
