Description
Cedar plank salmon is a flavorful grilled dish where the fish is infused with smoky, earthy aromas from the cedar wood while staying moist and tender. A sweet and savory marinade of soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and brown sugar makes it simple yet impressive.
Ingredients
1 whole salmon fillet (about 2 pounds)
1 cedar plank (soaked in water for at least 1 hour)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium heat.
- In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, brown sugar, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Place the salmon fillet on the soaked cedar plank.
- Brush the marinade generously over the salmon.
- Set the cedar plank directly on the grill.
- Close the lid and cook for 15–20 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches 145°F internally.
- Remove from the grill and let rest a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Soak the cedar plank for at least 1 hour to prevent burning.
Add fresh dill, rosemary, or citrus juice for flavor variations.
For a spicier kick, stir sriracha or red pepper flakes into the marinade.
Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat gently at 300°F or use cold in salads and pasta.
Works on both gas and charcoal grills, or in the oven at 375°F.
