Description

Cheddar Bay Biscuit Seafood Pot Pie is the ultimate comfort food, combining rich, creamy seafood with the irresistible, buttery, cheesy goodness of Cheddar Bay biscuits. This hearty dish satisfies your seafood and comfort food cravings in one delicious meal.

Ingredients

1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped

1 cup crab meat, shredded

1 cup frozen peas and carrots blend

1/2 cup diced celery

1/4 cup diced onion

2 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup seafood broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 box of refrigerated Cheddar Bay Biscuits

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sauté Vegetables: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and celery, sautéing until soft and translucent.
  3. Make the Roux: Sprinkle flour over the sautéed vegetables and stir continuously for about 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  4. Add Liquids: Gradually whisk in the seafood broth and heavy cream. Stir until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken.
  5. Season the Filling: Add garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  6. Incorporate the Seafood: Fold in the cooked shrimp, crab meat, and the frozen peas and carrots. Remove from heat.
  7. Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the seafood filling into a 9-inch pie dish or similar baking dish.
  8. Prepare the Biscuits: According to package instructions, prepare the Cheddar Bay Biscuits, adding in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Top the Filling: Drop spoonfuls of biscuit dough evenly over the seafood filling.
  10. Bake the Pot Pie: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and fully cooked.
  11. Cool and Serve: Let the pot pie cool for 10-15 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, skip the shrimp and crab and add extra vegetables like mushrooms, bell peppers, or potatoes.

For a spicier seafood pot pie, add hot sauce or diced jalapeños to the filling.

To make the dish gluten-free, use gluten-free flour for the roux and ensure your biscuits are gluten-free.

If you can’t find Cheddar Bay Biscuits, substitute any refrigerated biscuit dough, or make your own cheesy biscuits from scratch.

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze before baking for up to 3 months.
