Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup whole milk
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tablespoon dried parsley)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and paprika (if using) until well combined.
- Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, mix together the melted butter and whole milk until smooth.
- Add cheese and parsley: Stir the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped parsley into the wet mixture, blending everything together.
- Combine both mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to ensure the biscuits stay tender.
- Shape the biscuits: Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop generous mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- Prepare garlic butter: While the biscuits are baking, combine the melted butter with the remaining garlic powder in a small bowl.
- Brush the biscuits: Once the biscuits are baked, remove them from the oven and brush the tops with the garlic butter mixture immediately after taking them out.
- Serve warm: Let the biscuits cool slightly before serving, and enjoy them warm with your favorite meal!
Notes
Cheese swap: If you prefer a different cheese, try using mozzarella, gouda, or Monterey Jack for a unique twist.
Herb twist: For extra flavor, add some fresh thyme or rosemary to the biscuit dough.
Spicy version: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the dough for a spicy kick.
