Description

Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast is an indulgent brunch treat featuring creamy cheesecake filling between slices of buttery bread, dipped in a cinnamon-spiced egg mixture, and pan-fried to golden perfection. Perfect for special occasions or cozy weekends.

Ingredients

For the Cheesecake Filling:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the French Toast:

8 slices thick bread (brioche or challah recommended)

4 large eggs

1 cup milk

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

Butter or oil, for cooking

Optional Toppings:

Fresh berries

Maple syrup

Whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Make the Cheesecake Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  2. Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread the cheesecake mixture onto 4 slices of bread, then top with the other 4 slices to form sandwiches.
  3. Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Heat the Skillet: Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter or oil to grease the pan.
  5. Dip and Coat: Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides well.
  6. Cook the French Toast: Place the dipped sandwiches on the hot skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve: Serve warm with your choice of toppings such as fresh berries, maple syrup, or whipped cream.

Notes

For a lighter version, reduce the amount of powdered sugar in the filling or omit it altogether.

This recipe can be made gluten-free by using gluten-free bread.

If you don’t have cream cheese, mascarpone or a dairy-free cream cheese alternative works well.

Feel free to add fruit or chocolate chips to the filling for extra flavor.
