Description

This Chicken Francese Recipe features golden, pan-fried chicken breasts simmered in a bright, buttery lemon sauce for a flavorful, restaurant-worthy meal. This Italian-American classic is perfect for weeknights or dinner parties—elegant, easy, and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup all-purpose flour

3 large eggs

¼ cup milk

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

¼ cup olive oil

¼ cup unsalted butter

1¼ cups chicken broth

½ cup fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Pound chicken breasts to even thickness. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Place flour in a shallow dish. In another dish, whisk eggs, milk, and Parmesan.

  • Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in egg mixture.

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, melt butter. Add broth and lemon juice, scraping browned bits. Bring to a simmer.

  • Return chicken to skillet. Simmer 5 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.

  • Transfer chicken to a platter, spoon sauce over top, and garnish with parsley. Serve warm.

Notes

Substitute gluten-free flour for a GF version.

Omit Parmesan and use dairy-free butter for a dairy-free dish.

Sprinkle with lemon zest or fresh herbs like thyme for added brightness.

Best served fresh, but leftovers reheat well with a splash of broth.
