The Chicken Ring is a delicious and visually stunning dish made with ground chicken, cheddar cheese, bell peppers, and crescent dough, perfect for any occasion or gathering.
Ingredients
1 pound ground chicken
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup diced bell peppers
½ cup diced onion
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 egg (for egg wash)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, cook the ground chicken over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
Add diced bell peppers, onions, and minced garlic. Cook for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.
Unroll the crescent dough on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Arrange the dough in a circular pattern, overlapping the edges to form a ring.
Spoon the chicken mixture into the center of the dough ring.
Bring the edges of the dough over the chicken mixture and tuck the dough underneath to seal the ring.
Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the dough for a golden finish.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked.
Allow to cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot.
Notes
For a spicy version, add diced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes to the filling.
For a healthier option, use ground turkey and low-fat cheese.
If you prefer a different cheese, try using mozzarella, provolone, or Monterey Jack.
Make this dish vegetarian by using a vegetable filling or crumbled tofu instead of chicken.
