Description
Chocolate Irish Cream Cake is a decadent and indulgent dessert that combines rich chocolate cake with the creamy kick of Irish cream. Infused in both the cake and the frosting, this boozy, moist treat is perfect for adult celebrations like St. Patrick’s Day or an after-dinner indulgence.
Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 1 box Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
- 1 (3.4oz) package Jell-O Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- ¾ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup Homemade Irish Cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup water
For the Frosting:
- 1 (3.4oz) package Jell-O Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup Irish Cream
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the Cake Batter: In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, oil, Irish cream, vanilla extract, and water. Mix until smooth and fully combined.
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Soak the Cake: Once the cake is done, let it cool for 10-15 minutes. Then, poke holes in the cake with a fork. In a small bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk with the additional Irish cream. Pour this mixture evenly over the cooled cake, allowing it to soak in.
- Make the Frosting: For the frosting, whip the heavy cream with the pudding mix and Irish cream until fluffy. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake.
- Chill and Serve: Chill the cake before serving.
Notes
- Different Frosting: Try topping the cake with whipped cream or a chocolate ganache for a variation in texture and flavor.
- More Boozy: Add extra Irish cream to both the cake batter and frosting for a stronger flavor.
