Description
A delicious hybrid of churros and croissants, these Churro Cruffins are buttery, flaky pastries coated in cinnamon-sugar, optionally filled with dulce de leche or chocolate spread.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- Dulce de leche or chocolate spread (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth any creases.
- Brush the entire surface of the puff pastry with melted butter.
- Starting from one end, tightly roll up the puff pastry into a log.
- Cut the log into 1-inch slices.
- Gently twist each slice to form a spiral.
- Place each twisted slice into a greased muffin tin cavity, cut side facing up.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
- While baking, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
- Remove baked cruffins and let cool for a few minutes. Brush each with melted butter, then roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat well.
- (Optional) Fill cruffins by piping dulce de leche or chocolate spread into the center.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before beginning to avoid cracking.
- For a crispier texture, let the cruffins cool completely before filling.
- Serve immediately for best taste.
