Description

A delicious hybrid of churros and croissants, these Churro Cruffins are buttery, flaky pastries coated in cinnamon-sugar, optionally filled with dulce de leche or chocolate spread.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Dulce de leche or chocolate spread (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth any creases.
  3. Brush the entire surface of the puff pastry with melted butter.
  4. Starting from one end, tightly roll up the puff pastry into a log.
  5. Cut the log into 1-inch slices.
  6. Gently twist each slice to form a spiral.
  7. Place each twisted slice into a greased muffin tin cavity, cut side facing up.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
  9. While baking, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  10. Remove baked cruffins and let cool for a few minutes. Brush each with melted butter, then roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat well.
  11. (Optional) Fill cruffins by piping dulce de leche or chocolate spread into the center.
