Description

Classic chocolate chip cookies with a chewy texture and rich flavor.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg plus 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well blended.
  4. Beat in vanilla extract, egg, and additional egg yolk until light and creamy.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until blended.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.
  7. Drop cookie dough by rounded tablespoon onto the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly toasted.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
