With the perfect combination of garlic and sharp cheddar, these soft, golden biscuits are a delicious side dish or indulgent snack. Now you can enjoy the famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits right in your own kitchen with this easy-to-follow recipe!

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

3/4 cup whole milk

1/4 cup sour cream

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Biscuit Dough:
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and sugar.
Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
Add the milk and sour cream, and mix until just combined. The dough will be thick.

  • Shape and Bake the Biscuits:
Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.

  • Finish and Serve:
While the biscuits are baking, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and stir in the garlic powder.
Once the biscuits are done, brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of the warm biscuits.
    Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For extra cheese flavor, sprinkle some additional cheddar cheese on top before baking.

If you prefer a stronger garlic taste, you can increase the garlic powder or add minced garlic to the dough.

These biscuits are best served warm, but they can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
