Description
Soft, fluffy copycat Texas Roadhouse rolls with a lightly sweet flavor, brushed with melted butter for that classic, irresistible restaurant-style finish.
Ingredients
1¼ cups whole milk
2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
¼ cup honey
4 tablespoons butter, melted and divided
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups all-purpose or bread flour (about 480 grams)
Instructions
- Heat the milk until steaming with small bubbles along the edges, then remove from heat and cool to lukewarm (80–90°F).
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and honey. Let sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix 3 tablespoons melted butter, milk mixture, egg, salt, and half of the flour until smooth.
- Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled.
- Punch down dough and roll out to about ½-inch thickness. Fold in half, gently seal, and cut into 24 squares.
- Place rolls on lightly greased baking sheets, cover, and let rise for 30–40 minutes until doubled.
- Bake at 350°F for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Brush warm rolls with remaining melted butter and serve.
Notes
Bread flour creates a slightly chewier texture.
Brush rolls with extra honey butter for added sweetness.
Dough can be mixed by hand, stand mixer, or bread machine.
Brush with butter immediately after baking to keep rolls soft.
