Description
Crostini with Mushrooms is a simple yet flavorful appetizer featuring crispy baguette slices topped with a savory mushroom mixture and melted cheese. Perfect for any gathering, it combines the richness of sautéed mushrooms with the savory goodness of cheese, all on crunchy toasted bread.
Ingredients
1 baguette, cut into approximately 1/2-inch slices
4 garlic cloves, minced
8 medium mushrooms, washed and chopped
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
7 slices of cheddar cheese (or mozzarella cheese), cut into half
2 tablespoons dried oregano leaves
Salt & black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute.
- Add the chopped mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for 5 minutes, allowing them to soften.
- Increase the heat to medium-high, then add balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Cook uncovered until the liquid is fully absorbed.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet. Place half a slice of cheese on each slice of bread.
- Top the cheese with the sautéed mushroom mixture. Sprinkle with dried oregano.
- Bake in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 10 minutes.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Cheese Swap: Instead of cheddar or mozzarella, try goat cheese, Parmesan, or even blue cheese for a different flavor profile.
Spicy Kick: If you love spice, consider adding red pepper flakes to the mushroom mixture for some heat.
Vegan Option: Use plant-based cheese and ensure your bread is vegan-friendly for a dairy-free version.
