Description
Grilled Pizza combines the best of summer cooking with the classic flavors of pizza. The smoky grill flavor infuses the crispy crust, while fresh toppings like rich tomato sauce, gooey mozzarella, and your favorite vegetables or proteins make each bite a mouthwatering experience.
Ingredients
2 cups high-quality pizza dough
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 cup marinara or homemade tomato sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1–2 cups assorted toppings (e.g., bell peppers, pepperoni, arugula)
Instructions
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 450°F). This ensures a crispy crust with the perfect grill marks.
- Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Brush both sides with olive oil to prevent sticking and add flavor.
- Grill the First Side: Place the dough on the grill and cook for 3–4 minutes until the first side is golden brown and crispy.
- Add Sauce and Toppings: Flip the dough over, then spread a layer of tomato sauce on top, followed by a generous sprinkle of mozzarella cheese and your favorite toppings.
- Grill the Second Side: Close the lid of the grill and cook for an additional 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Once the pizza is ready, remove it from the grill and cut it into slices. Serve hot and enjoy the smoky, cheesy deliciousness!
Notes
Topping Ideas: Get creative with your toppings! Try bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, or even arugula for a fresh finish.
Alternative Sauces: Instead of marinara, experiment with pesto, BBQ sauce, or white sauce for a unique twist.
Fresh Herbs: Add fresh basil or oregano after grilling for a burst of flavor and color.
