Description

Salisbury Steak is the definition of comfort food – juicy, flavorful, and oh-so-satisfying! This dish brings back fond memories of family dinners, with seasoned beef patties simmered in rich French onion soup. Perfect for any occasion, this one-pan meal is easy to make and delivers savory goodness in every bite.

Ingredients

1 can (10 1/2 ounces) Campbell’s French onion soup

1.5 lbs ground beef

1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs

1 large egg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, dry breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into oval-shaped patties, approximately 1 inch thick.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side until browned.
  4. Pour the French onion soup over the patties. Cover the skillet and let it simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the patties to cook through.
  5. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or your favorite sides for a comforting meal.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed gluten-free crackers.

Panko breadcrumbs can be substituted for regular breadcrumbs for extra crunch.

Add Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture for an extra punch of flavor.

Vegetarian version: Use plant-based ground beef and vegan breadcrumbs.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freezes well for up to 3 months.
