Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked and shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works well)
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of chicken soup
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (or substitute with another cream soup)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 (6-ounce) box of stuffing mix (such as Stove Top)
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1/2 cup frozen peas (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir until well blended.
- Spread the creamy chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, mix the stuffing mix with melted butter and chicken broth until fully moistened.
- Evenly distribute the stuffing mixture over the chicken layer. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top if using.
- Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown and bubbly.
- Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with other cream soups, such as cream of celery or cream of chicken.
- Optional ingredients like frozen peas and shredded cheddar cheese can be omitted or adjusted based on preference.
