Description

Dorito Casserole is a cheesy, hearty, and flavorful dish made with layers of crispy Nacho Cheese Doritos, seasoned ground beef, creamy cheese sauce, and melted cheese. Topped with fresh sour cream, avocado, and salsa, it’s a fun, quick meal the whole family will love—perfect for family dinners or potlucks!

Ingredients

For the Casserole:

  • 14 oz “party size” bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 can (10¾ oz) cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 can (10¾ oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (4 oz) diced green chilies
  • 23 cups shredded Mexican cheese
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (optional)

For Toppings:

  • Sour cream
  • Diced green onions
  • Sliced cherry tomatoes
  • Sliced avocado or guacamole
  • Salsa

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the Ground Beef: In a large pan, brown the ground beef and drain the fat. If using taco seasoning, add it to the beef and cook according to the package directions.
  • Make the Sauce: Add the cheddar cheese soup, cream of chicken soup, evaporated milk, and diced green chilies to the beef. Stir until the mixture is bubbly and well combined.
  • Layer the Casserole: In a baking dish, spray with non-stick spray. Add half of the Doritos, lightly crushing them. Layer with half of the beef mixture and top with 1 cup of shredded Mexican cheese.
  • Repeat the Layers: Add the remaining Doritos, beef mixture, and cheese on top.
  • Bake: Bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and everything is heated through.
  • Serve: Top with your choice of sour cream, diced green onions, sliced tomatoes, avocado, or salsa.

Notes

  • Vegetarian Option: Replace the ground beef with black beans or plant-based protein for a vegetarian version.
  • Spicy Version: Add jalapeños or hot sauce to the beef mixture for extra heat.
  • Gluten-Free: Ensure you use gluten-free Doritos and verify that all canned soups are gluten-free.
