Description
Fried Pineapple Rings are a crispy, golden, and sweet treat made by coating pineapple rings in a batter and frying them to perfection. With a dusting of cinnamon and powdered sugar, they are a delightful dessert or snack that’s sure to impress.
Ingredients
1 medium fresh pineapple
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup cornstarch
½ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup cold water (or more as needed)
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Optional: cinnamon and powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
Prepare the Pineapple: Peel and cut the fresh pineapple into ½-inch thick rings, removing the core from each ring.
Make the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add cold water, mixing until the batter becomes smooth and thick.
Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat enough vegetable oil to submerge the pineapple rings over medium-high heat until hot.
Coat the Pineapple: Dip each pineapple ring into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
Fry the Rings: Carefully place the battered pineapple rings into the hot oil, frying in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Drain Excess Oil: Remove the fried rings using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
Dust with Sugar: Optionally, sprinkle some powdered sugar or cinnamon over the fried pineapple rings for an extra touch of sweetness.
Serve Warm: Serve the fried pineapple rings immediately while still warm and crispy.
Notes
For a more tropical flavor, add shredded coconut to the batter.
For a spicy kick, sprinkle chili powder or cayenne pepper over the fried rings.
If you prefer a dairy-free version, use coconut milk instead of water for the batter.
