Description

This Fully Loaded Classic Chili Cheese Dog Casserole is the perfect combination of chili cheese dogs and comforting casserole goodness. Featuring bite-sized hot dogs, savory chili, melted cheddar cheese, and a golden crescent roll topping, it’s an easy-to-make, crowd-pleasing dish. Ideal for family dinners or gatherings, this recipe is a hearty, flavorful meal that everyone will love.

Ingredients

8 hot dogs

1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1/4 cup diced onions

1/4 cup diced tomatoes

1/4 cup pickled jalapeños (optional)

1/4 cup sour cream (for serving)

2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prepare the Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Slice and Arrange Hot Dogs: Slice the hot dogs into bite-sized pieces and spread them evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

  • Add Chili and Cheese: Pour the canned chili over the hot dogs, spreading it to cover them completely. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chili.

  • Add Crescent Roll Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and place it over the cheese layer. Press the seams together to form a single sheet.

  • Bake the Casserole: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.

  • Top and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Top with diced onions, diced tomatoes, and pickled jalapeños (if using). Serve with sour cream and garnish with chopped cilantro.

Notes

Spicy Version: Add extra jalapeños or use spicy chili for more heat.

Add More Toppings: Try adding guacamole, crushed tortilla chips, or a drizzle of hot sauce for extra flavor.

Vegetarian: Use plant-based hot dogs and vegetarian chili to make this casserole vegetarian-friendly.
