Description

Garlic Parmesan Focaccia Bread is a savory, golden bread with a soft, pillowy crumb and a crispy crust, topped with fragrant garlic oil, Parmesan cheese, and flaky sea salt. Perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

1 ¼ cups warm water

1 tablespoon sugar

2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons salt

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil (plus more for greasing)

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (for garlic oil)

3 cloves garlic, minced

½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Dried Italian herbs or fresh chopped rosemary (optional)

Flaky sea salt (for sprinkling)


Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add flour and salt, stir until dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  2. Drizzle olive oil over dough, cover, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a pan, sauté minced garlic for 1 minute, remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Transfer dough to a greased 9×13-inch pan. Stretch dough to fill the pan, let rest 10 minutes if dough springs back. Let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Dimple the dough with oiled fingertips, then brush with garlic oil. Sprinkle with Parmesan, herbs, and flaky sea salt.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy. Cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store leftover focaccia at room temperature for up to 2 days in an airtight container. Reheat in the oven for 5-10 minutes.

For extra crispiness, add more olive oil to the pan or dough base.

Can be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
