Heart Shaped Pizza is a fun and festive homemade pizza with a soft, fluffy crust, melty mozzarella, and colorful vegetable toppings, perfect for special occasions or a memorable pizza night.
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
1 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for greasing)
1 cup pizza sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sliced bell peppers
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Red pepper flakes (optional)
Fresh basil leaves (optional)
Sea salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl and let sit until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt, then add yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and roll it out, shaping it into a heart.
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C) and transfer dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
- Add mozzarella cheese, then top with bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Drizzle with olive oil, season lightly with sea salt and black pepper, garnish with fresh basil, and serve hot.
Notes
Shape the heart by starting with a circle and pinching the top center.
Use a pizza stone for a crispier crust.
Customize toppings to suit your taste.
Avoid overbaking to keep the crust soft.
