Description

Homemade Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joe Melts combine the savory goodness of ground beef, melted mozzarella, and buttery garlic bread, offering the ultimate comfort food. Perfect for cozy dinners or gatherings, these melts are sure to impress with their irresistible flavor and gooey texture.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef or turkey

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices thick-cut bread (sourdough or ciabatta work great)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons butter, softened

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  5. Place the buttered slices of bread, buttered side down, on a baking sheet. Spoon a generous amount of the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice. Top with shredded mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. For a crispier finish, broil on high for 1-2 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can swap ground beef for turkey or chicken for a leaner option.

Try using different cheeses like cheddar or provolone for a unique flavor.

For a spicier version, add hot sauce, chili flakes, or jalapeños to the sloppy joe mixture.

Add extra toppings like pickles, fresh basil, or sautéed mushrooms for added flavor.
