Description

Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding Cake is a rich and indulgent dessert with a gooey fudge sauce baked underneath a tender chocolate cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder (additional)
  • 1¾ cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, ¼ cup cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. If using, fold in chopped nuts.
  4. Pour batter into prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar and additional ¼ cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
  6. Carefully pour hot water over the top of the batter. Do not stir.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the top is set and slightly cracked, and the fudge sauce is bubbling underneath. Check at 35 minutes for gooier texture if preferred.
  8. Let cake cool for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • If you prefer a gooier pudding cake, check for doneness at 35 minutes instead of 40.
  • Chopped nuts are optional but add a nice crunch.
  • This dessert is best served warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
