Description
Tender, savory Instant Pot Southern-style collard greens made with smoked turkey and rich broth for classic comfort in a fraction of the time.
Ingredients
1 bunch collard greens, stems removed and chopped
4 thick slices smoked turkey, cut into 1-inch pieces
4 cups water
2 tablespoons white vinegar
4 cups chicken broth
Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the collard greens thoroughly, remove the thick stems, and chop the leaves.
- Turn the Instant Pot to the sauté function and add the smoked turkey pieces.
- Sauté for a few minutes until heated through and lightly browned, then turn off sauté mode.
- Add the water and white vinegar, scraping the bottom of the pot to release any browned bits.
- Add the chopped collard greens and stir to coat them in the liquid.
- Pour in the chicken broth and season with salt to taste.
- Secure the lid, set the Instant Pot to high pressure, and cook for 20 minutes.
- Allow the pressure to release naturally, then carefully release any remaining pressure.
- Open the lid, taste, and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
Notes
Rinse collard greens well to remove any grit.
Add onions, garlic, or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
Adjust vinegar at the end for more tang if desired.
Serve with some of the cooking liquid to keep the greens moist.
