Description

Lobster Rolls are a luxurious seafood treat featuring tender lobster meat in a creamy, tangy dressing, served in lightly toasted buns. This indulgent dish is perfect for special occasions or a simple seafood craving.

Ingredients

1 ½ pounds fresh lobster meat (cooked and chopped)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

½ cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

4 hot dog buns or split-top rolls

Fresh chives (chopped for garnish, optional)

Lettuce leaves (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Lobster: If using live lobster, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lobster for about 8-12 minutes until the shell turns bright red and the meat is opaque.
  2. Cool and Chop: Remove the lobster from the pot and cool it under running water. Once cooled, crack the shell and remove the meat. Chop into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Make the Dressing: In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
  4. Mix Lobster and Dressing: Gently fold the chopped lobster into the dressing, ensuring it’s evenly coated without breaking the lobster too much.
  5. Prepare the Buns: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Toast the hot dog buns lightly until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Assemble the Rolls: Place a few lettuce leaves (if using) inside each bun. Scoop a generous amount of the lobster mixture on top.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with chopped chives if desired. Serve immediately while still warm.

Notes

For spicy lobster rolls, add a dash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dressing.

Add sliced avocado to the rolls for a creamy, fresh twist.

For extra flavor, lightly grill the lobster meat before mixing it with the dressing.
