Description

Orange Chicken & Broccoli Skillet is a vibrant and healthy one-pan dish featuring juicy chicken thighs, crisp broccoli, and a tangy orange sauce. With the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and zesty flavors, this quick and easy meal is a complete, nutritious dinner that comes together in just 35 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 large bunch broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 cup cooked brown rice
  • 2 large oranges, juiced and zested
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes per side, or until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook the Broccoli: In the same skillet, add the broccoli and cook for 3-4 minutes until it begins to soften.
  • Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Combine and Simmer: Return the chicken to the skillet and pour the orange sauce over the chicken and broccoli. Add the cooked rice and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
  • Serve: Serve hot, garnished with additional orange zest or fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Add Nuts: Add cashews or almonds for a crunchy texture.
  • Use Chicken Breasts: Swap chicken thighs for boneless, skinless chicken breasts for a leaner option.
  • Spicy Version: Increase the red pepper flakes or add a dash of sriracha for extra heat.
