Description

A delightful patriotic dessert featuring a crunchy pretzel crust, creamy cheese layer, and a refreshing berry-topped gelatin layer – perfect for summer gatherings.

Ingredients

  • For the Crust:
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Cream Cheese Layer:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz whipped topping, thawed
  • For the Berry Layer:
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 packages (3 oz each) strawberry gelatin
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine crushed pretzels, 1/2 cup sugar, and melted butter. Mix well.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool completely.
  5. In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese with 1 cup sugar until smooth.
  6. Gently fold in whipped topping until combined and spread the mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  7. Dissolve the strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved and let it cool slightly.
  8. Fold in the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries into the gelatin mixture.
  9. Pour the gelatin and berry mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
  11. Cut into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese layer is evenly spread to prevent the gelatin from seeping into the crust.
  • Use fresh and firm berries for the best texture and flavor.
  • You can substitute frozen berries if fresh ones are unavailable, but make sure to thaw and drain them first.
