Description

This Pepper Steak with Bell Peppers and Onion is a quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender beef, crisp vegetables, and a savory sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners, this dish pairs beautifully with rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • Beef steak (sirloin or flank) – 1 pound, thinly sliced
  • Red bell pepper – 1, sliced into strips
  • Green bell pepper – 1, sliced into strips
  • Onion – 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh ginger – 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Soy sauce – 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch – 1 tablespoon
  • Beef broth or water – ½ cup
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and black pepper – To taste

Instructions

1️⃣ Marinate the Beef – In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Add the sliced beef, toss well, and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
2️⃣ Prepare the Vegetables – While the beef is marinating, slice the bell peppers and onion. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger.
3️⃣ Cook the Vegetables – Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the bell peppers and onion for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened. Remove from skillet and set aside.
4️⃣ Cook the Beef – In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon oil and cook the marinated beef in a single layer for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Cook in batches if needed.
5️⃣ Combine & Simmer – Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet. Add garlic and ginger, stirring for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the beef broth and let simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
6️⃣ Season & Serve – Adjust salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

✅ Make it Spicy – Add red pepper flakes or sliced chili peppers for heat.
✅ Vegetarian Option – Substitute beef with firm tofu or mushrooms.
✅ Different Proteins – Try this with chicken or shrimp instead of beef.
✅ Extra Vegetables – Add snow peas, carrots, or broccoli for more color and nutrition.
