Description

A delicious combination of Philly steak, melting cheese, and crispy waffle fries for a hearty and indulgent dish directly from the oven.

Ingredients

  • 450 g steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 8 to 10 slices White American cheese
  • 567 g frozen waffle cut fries
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  2. Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Once hot, add the thinly sliced steak, seasoning with garlic salt and black pepper. Sauté until browned on all sides, then remove the steak and set aside.
  3. Reserve 1 tablespoon of the cooking liquid in the skillet and discard the rest. Add the sliced green bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, but the bell pepper remains slightly crisp. Remove and set aside.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Spread the frozen waffle fries evenly in the skillet. Top with 4 slices of White American cheese, followed by the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables. Repeat the layering process, finishing with the remaining cheese slices on top.
  5. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  6. Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute White American cheese with provolone for a slightly different flavor.
  • Feel free to add mushrooms or jalapeños for an extra layer of taste.
  • Adjust cooking times slightly based on the thickness of your steak slices.
