Ingredients
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp white sugar (optional, to taste)
1 tsp salt (optional, to taste)
2 bananas, sliced
1 pinch ground cinnamon
1/2 cup cold milk (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Add water and rolled oats to a medium saucepan.
- Stir in sugar and salt, if using.
- Add sliced bananas and ground cinnamon.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently, until oats are soft and creamy and liquid is absorbed (about 8–10 minutes).
- Remove from heat once the porridge reaches your preferred consistency.
- Divide into bowls and finish with a splash of cold milk if desired.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Overripe bananas add extra natural sweetness.
Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
Add more water or milk if porridge becomes too thick.
