Description
This Crispy Hot Honey Feta Chicken combines crispy, golden chicken with crumbled feta and a spicy-sweet hot honey sauce for a flavorful, bold dish that’s easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
2 large chicken breasts (approx. 500g), pounded to even thickness
80g (1 cup) panko breadcrumbs
30g (¼ cup) plain flour
2 large eggs
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Olive oil spray or drizzle
For the Topping:
100g (3.5 oz) feta cheese, crumbled
For the Hot Honey:
3 tbsp honey
1–2 tsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
A small squeeze of lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Pound the Chicken: Use a mallet or rolling pin to flatten the chicken to even thickness for quicker, more even cooking.
- Bread the Chicken: Combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in one bowl. Whisk the eggs in another. Coat the chicken in the flour mixture, dip into eggs, then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Bake the Chicken: Place the breaded chicken on the baking tray, spray with olive oil, and bake for 25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
- Make the Hot Honey: In a small pan, heat honey, hot sauce, chili flakes (if using), and a squeeze of lemon juice over low heat until well combined.
- Finish and Serve: Once the chicken is baked, top with crumbled feta and drizzle the warm hot honey over the top. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a milder cheese, substitute feta with goat cheese or mozzarella.
For a crispier texture, try air frying the chicken at 200°C (400°F) for 15-18 minutes.
For a plant-based version, replace chicken with tofu or tempeh.
Adjust the spice level by adding more or less hot sauce and chili flakes in the hot honey.
