Description

Sausage-Loaded Biscuit Gravy Bake combines creamy sausage gravy with fluffy biscuits in one easy casserole. It’s a comforting, hearty meal perfect for brunch or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage (turkey or plant-based options work well too)

¼ cup all-purpose flour

2 ½ cups whole milk

½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

½ teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count, large biscuits)

1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing)

1 tablespoon chopped parsley or chives (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare the Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks, until fully browned. Drain any excess grease if needed.
  3. Make the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute to create a roux. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened into gravy. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Assemble the Casserole: Pour the sausage gravy into the prepared baking dish. Cut each biscuit into halves or quarters and arrange the pieces on top of the gravy.
  5. Optional: Brush with Butter: For a golden finish, brush the biscuits with melted butter.
  6. Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until biscuits are golden brown.
  7. Rest and Serve: Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley or chives.

Notes

Gravy Consistency: Adjust thickness with more flour for thicker gravy or more milk for thinner gravy.

Sausage Options: Use turkey sausage or plant-based sausage as preferred.

Serving Suggestions: Serve with scrambled eggs or fruit salad for a complete meal.
