Description

Seven Layer Magic Bars are a decadent dessert with layers of graham cracker crumbs, chocolate, butterscotch, coconut, and nuts, all topped with sweetened condensed milk and baked to golden perfection. A crowd-pleaser for any occasion!

Ingredients

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup butterscotch chips

1 cup shredded coconut

1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, your choice)

½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
  3. Make the Crust: In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press the mixture into the prepared pan.
  4. Layer the Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly over the crust.
  5. Add the Butterscotch Chips: Layer butterscotch chips on top of the chocolate chips.
  6. Layer the Coconut: Sprinkle shredded coconut evenly over the butterscotch chips.
  7. Add the Nuts: Distribute the chopped nuts evenly over the coconut layer.
  8. Pour the Sweetened Condensed Milk: Drizzle sweetened condensed milk evenly over the entire layer.
  9. Sprinkle with Salt: Add a light sprinkle of salt to balance the sweetness.
  10. Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the bars are set.
  11. Cool and Cut: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 1 hour. Once cooled, remove from the pan and cut into squares.

Notes

Customization: Substitute nuts or chips with milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, or dried fruit.

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Make-Ahead: These bars can be made in advance and freeze well for later enjoyment.
