Description

This Simple Hamburger Stroganoff is a creamy, budget-friendly meal made with lean ground beef, cream cheese, sour cream, and gravy mix. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a comforting and versatile dish.

Ingredients

1 (16 oz) package egg noodles

1 pound lean ground beef

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, cut into pieces

1 (6 oz) can chopped mushrooms, with liquid

1 (0.75 oz) packet dry brown gravy mix

2 (10.5 oz) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup

1 (8 oz) container sour cream

½ cup milk

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a large pot, bring lightly salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook until tender but firm to the bite (7 to 9 minutes). Drain the noodles.
  3. While the noodles cook, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until fully cooked and crumbly (5 to 7 minutes). Drain the excess grease.
  4. Stir in the cream cheese, mushrooms (with liquid), and brown gravy mix. Cook and stir over medium heat until the cream cheese has melted, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Add the condensed mushroom soup, sour cream, and milk to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is smooth and creamy, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  6. Drain the egg noodles and stir them into the beef mixture. Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Use reduced-fat versions of cream cheese, sour cream, and milk for a lighter version.

Add extra veggies like spinach, peas, or bell peppers for more nutrition.

For a spicier kick, add chili flakes or hot sauce.

For a dairy-free version, swap out dairy ingredients for plant-based alternatives.
