180 g (6 oz) skinless, boneless smoked mackerel fillets
100 g (3.5 oz) cream cheese
1 lemon, zest and juice
2 tsp horseradish sauce
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions
- Flake the smoked mackerel into small pieces and place in a large bowl.
- Add the cream cheese, lemon zest and juice, horseradish sauce, sea salt, and black pepper.
- Mix well using a fork until combined, leaving small pieces of fish visible for texture.
- For a smoother pate, pulse the mixture briefly in a food processor.
- Spoon into a serving bowl and top with cress, black pepper, and a squeeze of lemon.
- Serve with crusty bread, crackers, or a fresh salad.
Notes
Use peppered smoked mackerel for extra flavor.
Swap cream cheese for Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
Add fresh herbs like dill, chives, or parsley for freshness.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
Defrost fully before serving and stir in a little lemon juice to refresh.
