Description

Spaghetti Garlic Bread Bowls are a delightful combination of flavorful meat sauce served in crispy, cheesy bread bowls, perfect for a cozy family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium white onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely diced
  • 500g ground beef (12% fat)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 500g tomato purée
  • 240ml beef stock
  • ½ tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ bunch fresh basil, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 20g freshly grated parmesan
  • 6 crusty white rolls
  • 100g butter, melted
  • 30g parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely grated
  • 200g shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the finely diced onion and garlic and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
  3. Stir in the tomato puree and tomato purée. Add the beef stock and soy sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Add the fresh basil, dried oregano, and sugar, and stir to combine. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Stir in the freshly grated parmesan cheese and set aside.
  6. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  7. Cut the tops off the crusty white rolls and hollow out the insides, leaving a shell.
  8. Mix the melted butter, parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, and finely grated garlic in a small bowl.
  9. Brush the butter mixture generously on the inside of each bread bowl.
  10. Place the bread bowls on a baking sheet and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese inside each bowl.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Spoon the meat sauce into the bread bowls, filling each one with the delicious sauce. Serve warm, garnished with extra parmesan or fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Use crusty rolls for best results, as they will hold their shape better during baking.
  • The meat sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • You can substitute beef stock with chicken or vegetable stock if needed.
