Description
A moist, warmly spiced applesauce bread that comes together quickly with pantry staples. Tender, aromatic, and perfect for breakfast, snacks, or a lightly sweet dessert.
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups applesauce
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
3 tablespoons milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and milk; beat until well mixed.
- Sift in flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt. Stir just until smooth.
- Fold in chopped pecans.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Add raisins or dried cranberries for extra sweetness.
Replace part of the applesauce with mashed banana for flavor variation.
Sprinkle coarse sugar on top for added crunch.
Use walnuts instead of pecans or omit nuts entirely.
