Description

This sunflower seed pie is a unique twist on nut-based desserts, featuring a smooth, nutty filling baked in a buttery crust. It’s simple to prepare, rich in flavor, and perfect for holidays or family gatherings.


Ingredients

1 1/2 cups raw unsalted sunflower seeds

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 large eggs

1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan and crimp the edges.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine sunflower seeds, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and salt. Stir until smooth and well blended.
  4. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the center is slightly set.
  6. Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

Toast the sunflower seeds before mixing for a deeper flavor.

Swirl in a tablespoon of honey or maple syrup for extra richness.

Sprinkle whole sunflower seeds on top before baking for added crunch.
