Description
Crab Rangoon Bites are crispy wonton wrappers filled with a creamy crab and cream cheese mixture, perfect as a flavorful appetizer or party snack.
Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup cooked crab meat (or finely chopped imitation crab)
- 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon sesame oil
- 10–12 wonton wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- Vegetable or canola oil (for frying)
- Sweet and sour sauce or favorite dipping sauce (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, soy sauce, garlic powder, and sesame oil. Mix until smooth and creamy with small crab chunks.
- Lay wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
- Place 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of filling in the center of each wrapper.
- Brush edges of wrappers with beaten egg. Fold into a triangle or pouch shape and press edges tightly to seal.
- Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Test oil with a small piece of wonton wrapper—should sizzle and brown immediately.
- Fry bites in small batches for 2-3 minutes, flipping halfway until golden and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with sweet and sour sauce or your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough to prevent sogginess and ensure a crispy texture.
- Overfilling the wrappers can cause them to burst while frying.
- Filling can be made ahead of time and refrigerated to save prep time.
