Instructions
-
Prepare the Dough:
-
Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C). Stir in yeast and let it activate for 5-10 minutes.
-
Add sugar, butter, egg, and lemon zest to the milk mixture, mixing until smooth.
-
Gradually add bread flour and salt, mixing until combined. Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until smooth.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
-
Make the Blueberry Filling:
-
In a saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and zest. Simmer over medium heat until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Let cool to room temperature.
-
-
Assemble the Rolls:
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
-
Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the blueberry filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
-
Roll the dough up tightly, then slice into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls into the greased baking dish.
-
Cover and let the rolls rise for another 1 hour.
-
-
Bake:
-
Bake the rolls at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
-
Prepare the Frosting:
-
In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and zest until smooth and creamy.
-
-
Serve:
-
Once the rolls have cooled slightly, spread the lemon cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls. Serve and enjoy!

Notes
Dairy-Free Option: Use dairy-free milk, vegan butter, and vegan cream cheese for a dairy-free version.
Frozen Blueberries: Frozen blueberries work perfectly for the filling and may even make the filling easier to handle.
Storage: Store leftover rolls in an airtight container for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to soften the frosting.
