Ingredients
1 sturdy sandwich bun (ciabatta, brioche, or hoagie roll)
Butter (optional, for toasting)
4–6 slices roast beef
2 lettuce leaves
2–4 tomato slices
3–5 tablespoons caramelized onions or thinly sliced onions
2–3 slices cheese (cheddar, provolone, or Swiss)
Honey Mustard Mayonnaise:
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/4 cup mayonnaise
Instructions
- Split the bun in half and butter lightly if desired. Toast until golden for extra texture.
- Layer the roast beef evenly over the bottom half of the bun.
- Add the lettuce leaves on top of the beef, followed by tomato slices.
- Spoon caramelized or sliced onions over the tomatoes.
- Place the cheese slices over the onions.
- In a small bowl, mix together the honey, Dijon mustard, and mayonnaise until smooth.
- Spread the honey mustard mayonnaise over the cheese or top bun.
- Close the sandwich with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
