Description

A delicious and easy-to-make strawberry cobbler dessert with a sweet strawberry filling and a golden crumble topping.


Ingredients

For the Sauce:

½ cup white sugar

2 tablespoons cornstarch

¼ cup lemon juice

3 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced into ¼-inch slices

2 tablespoons cold butter, diced

For the Crumble Topping:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon white sugar

1½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons cold butter, cut into cubes

½ cup heavy cream


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Butter a 9-inch round or square baking pan.
  2. In a heavy-duty saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and gently fold in the sliced strawberries.
  4. Pour the strawberry mixture into the prepared baking dish and dot with the diced butter.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream until just combined.
  7. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the strawberries.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
